\"1989\"
It was the seventeenth of September 1989
A beautiful and sunny day
That would soon vanished away
When hurricane Hugo unleashed its force of nature upon us
Four of us - scared in our small house
Not a sound, not a squeak from the lonely mouse
My oldest brother and two baby sisters
There, sitting on the couch surrounded by mom and dad
Why does this night feels sad?
I asked my uncle Richard
Who was our protector and savior
Like Gandalf the wizard
As we are trying to survived the storm
The wind was battling the house and trees
A furious giant on hands and knees
It tore the roof apart
And we witnessed the sky like an abstract art
Leaves of fruit trees crumbling like rust
Hugo whipped the quiet of the earth into dust
The windows and doors rattled
Holding them tight as we battled
The defying storm and the shadows of the night
Hoping to see, if tomorrow the sun will be bright
But by morning, the fury began to cease
Our little town was settling into peace
After this violent night -
The sun broke through with a golden hand
To heal the scars of the battered land
This story is real and true
A reminder of survival and struggle for me and you
A beautiful and sunny day
That would soon vanished away
When hurricane Hugo unleashed its force of nature upon us
Four of us - scared in our small house
Not a sound, not a squeak from the lonely mouse

This Poems Story
I was twelve years old when hurricane Hugo left a scar in my life. My parents lost everything they\'ve own, but still we are alive and that\'s the most important. Hugo reshaped the way of our lives. Yet in this sad story, I found hope and positivity.

There are lines and sections of this poem that are very high quality, especially in the latter half of the poem. I loved the line "a furious giant on hands and knees." Some of your verb tenses do not align. You have past tense incorrectly placed in a few spots. It was a little jarring to read "Seventeen" in the first line. Change this to Seventeenth to be grammatically correct. A bit of editing and this poem will be a good one!
@Jamin Gordon, thank you so much for the guidance.
