A Mother Erased

Listen close now, 1,2,3
It really is a mystery
A mystery most miserably
My new unreal reality
I know that I am nobody
But why can nobody hear me
Assuming automatically
That it’s a case of custody
Custody it's not, you see
Nor is it about the perjury
(And yes, it is a felony)
Though, I don’t know to what degree
Material issue definitely
Resulted in an EMT
A need for cardiology
Not about the identity
Of who chopped down the cherry tree
Actually, quite bizarrely
Oregon has stolen from me
You don’t have the right, you see
To take what does belong to me
You are free to disagree
But you owe me an apology
For being an accessory
To breaking up my family
Harming children emotionally
Diffusing responsibility
Violations ethically
Lacking human decency

Each night as I go to sleep
I hold my pillow as I weep
Tear-stained pillows on my bed
Constant nightmares in my head
Praying that the sun will rise
And Oregon will realize
That if I should die before I wake
Many hearts they did break
Maybe now there are a few
Who just figured out that clue
But if I wake before I die
You’ll hear me howl my battle cry
I’m a lion, now hear me roar
You took something that I adore
There were two cubs, now there’s one
Oregon kidnapped my son
Picked a fight with the wrong mom
So here it comes… truth bomb!

What it’s called is deprivation
A prolonged separation
Way too long in duration
Parental rights violation
Not a false accusation
Nor any sort of fabrication
Mother lives in devastation
Cannot breathe; suffocation
Truly an abomination
A child lives in isolation
Not the age of maturation
Emotional fragmentation
Without any justification
No causation or litigation
Never any arbitration
Not a single allegation
Flying monkey manipulation
Missed 8th grade graduation
Not a custody situation
What could be the motivation?
Dear Oregon, explanation?
Ignoring me; no conversation
You know you have an obligation
It’s called family preservation
I asked you for cooperation
With our future generation
Please make no hesitation
There’s no time for speculation
Get to work; I’m not afraid
To demand your resignation

Oregon, Oregon, what is it you hide?
Your own legal code, you do not abide
It’s there in print as a felony crime
Reported over and over, time after time
The attention paid so minimal
I guess it’s not really criminal
Thanks so much for letting us know
The criminals now know where to go
Please tell me now; give me a reason
Why my child's not home this holiday season?

It has now been nearly a year
Waiting and waiting; I’ve still yet to hear
My child’s voice; let’s make that clear
Absolute silence for nearly a year

His father's voice is all I've heard
“It’s his choice; Nothing I can do”
But from my child not a single word
Tell me now, what does that tell you?

Begging and pleading to hear his voice
Constant excuses, "It's HIS choice"

So Oregon, when I say that something’s wrong
Please give my concern some regard
Guess who else chose to not call?
Jaycee Lee Dugard

Elizabeth Smart, Colleen Stan, Shawn Hornbeck, too
Steven Stayner, Patty Hearst, just to name a few

I know what you are thinking
I see you roll your eyes
But what do they have in common?
Manipulation, fear, and lies

How about this? How does this sound?
I found a good solution
It’s called the 14th Amendment
Of the U.S. Constitution

So, now I’m Liam Neeson
But I don’t need a gun
My army stands beside me
We the People; We are One

Of course, I have much more to say
I’ll save it for another day
Forgive me, I must say goodbye
I need to go lay down and cry
