A Mother's Memories
Where in the world did time goIt is no longer moving slow
It feels like yesterday I was told its a girl
And when I got to hold you, I knew you would be my world
A year went by and suddenly you could walk
Then shortly after you knew how to talk
I did not know then, the day would come so soon
But it did, and we entered that big class room
As I was leaving you began to cry
I fought back my tears as I told you to "at least give it a try"
After a week you no longer begged me to stay
But it still hurt me when I had to walk away
A few years later you asked me if you could call a friend
My heart sank to the floor as I listened on the other end
Before I know it you will be at your high school prom
With graduation soon to come
I'm holding on to memories and continuing to make more
So we can always have them with us when you enter your dorm room door
I promise to guide you right in every possible way
And in your heart I hope you keep my words of wisdom there forever to stay
