A society so unjust
If you walk out on
The streets today
You'll see things have
Changed since yesterday
Today's society
Is so unjust
Isn't there anyone
Out there whom
I can trust
Respect isn't something
That is just given
Respect is something
That must be earned
And the consequences
May come with a
Hard lesson learned
Turn on the nightly news
There's a shooting again
Pray for the families
As I try to take it all in
Because we live in a
Society so full of sin
I think to myself
When will this
Madness ever end?
In the blink of an eye
So many life's can
Come to an end
Your mother
Your brother
Your sister or friend
The streets today
You'll see things have
Changed since yesterday
Today's society
Is so unjust
Isn't there anyone
Out there whom
I can trust
Respect isn't something
That is just given
Respect is something
That must be earned
And the consequences
May come with a
Hard lesson learned
Turn on the nightly news
There's a shooting again
Pray for the families
As I try to take it all in
Because we live in a
Society so full of sin
I think to myself
When will this
Madness ever end?
In the blink of an eye
So many life's can
Come to an end
Your mother
Your brother
Your sister or friend
This Poems Story
My personal thoughts relating to the current events and the rising number of mass shootings taking place all over the world. Our society has become violent and the "Land of the free" has become a battleground where innocent lives are taken every day.
