Abuse

There was a time perhaps, when i thought that you might care
despite the fact you changed my look, and made me shave my hair
i thought that after all, perhaps i was still loved
that maybe i was dificult, i NEEDED pushed and shoved
but that time has passed into the night, but my memories remain
i try to push you from my thoughts, but my struggles are in vain
the twisted things you did and said, they crawl within my brain
and fester in the emptiness until i go insane
there was a day, long gone perhaps, when i could lead a normal life
but that day has passed far out of sight, and left without a fight
so here i lie, with scars and pain, in the darkness of the night

This Poems Story

this poem is far more personal that many i have posted here. while many are centered around an idea, less than personal experience, this particular one is centered specifically around the severe abuse and neglect i endured as a child/ teenager. it really is hard to put into words just how it feels to survive abuse. we are never really the same afterwards. i remember the first time hearing that i was a \"Survivor\" and thats really when it struck me how bad it had affected me. if you are reading this, remember, you are not alone. there IS hope, and there IS a future for you outside the horrific things you have endured. stay strong!
