Adopting a Universal View

We search for life in other places
But we lack the wisdom and foresight
To maintain our own living spaces
Properly
And we can't seem to stop our fight
For superiority
Over everything that we see
In our field of view
And we don't know how to act like true
Citizens of the earth
Regardless of our place of birth
Or financial state
We've used eons of time to perpetuate
Our lack of interest in peace
And inability to cease
Wars and cruelty
So it's hard to imagine how we
Can expect to be
Able to exist
With other civilizations that we may find
When we continue to insist
On living within the abyss
Created by our own minds
