Against the Odds

My breath is trying to catch my heartbeat
I talk but I can't speak
I open my mouth
But the words won't come out
I look but I can't see
I open my eyes and my tears won't come out
my heart is still swollen
I can't believe my little boy was stolen
From me and my family
But I will never wish death upon my enemy
The pain and sorrow
Is not here tomorrow
Therefore a smile on my face
Gives assurance and confirmation that it is safe
I'm a strong woman and I can do all things through Christ
Against all odds even if I have to pay the price
I'm still here on my two feet
I know sometimes you can see the grin on my teeth
But that's just the integrity in me
And I will never let the enemy
Get the best of me
And you can go ahead and tell them
That I'm blessed by the mighty Lord,
Amen
