April

Up with the daisies, humming in tune
To Beethoven's Fifth abreast of the breeze
The robins dredging dandelion plumes with ease
Padding their nests with a backyard shed's boon

The outline of the crop is hewn
The window of the car door has bees
The highway winds past the concessions' tease
When dinner waits for the in-laws soon

The routes running alongside the solicitor's moon
Lobbying for the common man's keys
Fitting into the locks of the growing seas
And catching angels where the shadows are strewn

The days still short, the whistlers long,
April unpacks industry's song
