Befallen

So crazy in love, senses lost, my dear
Still the waft of your scent will not relent
From afar I hear your lilt in my ear
Your eyes dance and no one else is present
How I crave to taste and quench this torment
But oh not lost, it’s unable to hide
Overwhelming, it drives whirlwind descent
The urge to touch, I near cannot abide.

The breath from your stride whispers you are near
Absorb your mood as I drink in your scent
You tread past, nervous, my heart skips a cheer
I'm falling too fast, hued judgment intent
Where are you, darling? Too wild my descent
Before I crash, catch me, my steadfast guide
Racing, reckless, unhinged, no detent
It's all in the landing, smash fortified.

Darkness swallows all light, how much I peer
Where did you go to? So wrong, I repent
Submerged, dullness drives your cadence to blear
Bereft and benumbed, don't belong, all pent
Words taken at face, hollow myth not meant
No longer anger that surely you lied
How could you not see, how did we dissent
Misled so willingly, now I must bide.

Forever altered, former strength all spent
Nothing left, vacuum engulfs like a hide
Where is that lustre, no zeal to lament
Gone. Befallen. Radiance; she has died.
