Before you love was practice

“Before You, Love Was Practice”
I thought love was candlelight and cheesy TV lines,
Bad dates, wrong names, and “Hey, you up?” at nine.
I thought it was butterflies… turns out I had bees—
Just buzzing around, making chaos out of me.

Then you walked in, like you owned my whole sky,
And suddenly “forever” didn’t sound like a lie.
My heart did a backflip, tripped, then forgot how to play—
Honestly, it still hasn’t fully recovered to this day.

I didn’t know love could be laughing that hard,
Or fighting over blankets like it’s some Olympic sport in the yard.
Didn’t know “I miss you” could happen in minutes, not days,
Or that your weird little habits would steal all my praise.

Now love is your voice, your smile, your face,
It’s me losing arguments just to stay in your space.
It’s dumb little jokes and stealing your hoodie at night—
(Yes, it’s mine now… don’t even try to fight.)

Before you, love was a word I’d misuse—
Now it’s everything I am… and somehow still you.
