Below Outer Space

We've been told that the sun
Is the center of the solar system.
History, science, technology.
My art--the magic of the lights ablaze above.

The oil we fight over sticks
To our hands and eyes.
Fearless
Reckless

To catch the torment
Of the spectrum of light,
All to rich
The unknown throne.

Forget about the arduous journey,
About the days when we had no bread to eat,
Forget about the agony
Because we have survived.

We have shed our skin for a new twilight,
To start again in a place where freedom can remain,
A place empty with
No envy, no madness, nor silliness.

This is all we found below outer space.
This is all we wanted,
To swallow the space
And with it, die freely.

This Poems Story

Have you ever asked yourself if the life you are living is real? If the world you live in exists? If the people surrounding you and the individuals you love exist? I do. But then I remember the hardships I have endured, the success I have accomplished, the unforgettable happiness and the unbearable sadness. Then I conclude, this wonderful world depends on the past, the present and the future we make for ourselves. I am Alani Flores, a seventeen-year-old who wishes my ideas, my writing, but overall my feelings have the power to travel through time.
