Broken Chain

Tired of living up to a standard of malice.
Passed down through genetics,
like a gold encrusted chalice.

Fed up with the undeserved smile.
By the enemy, of the enemy,
of the friend you haven't seen in a while.

No longer provoked by the inept lover
to try too hard,
for something that is felt no longer.

I'm to pave a path worth venturing. Not.
A broken road that just causes injury.
