Cleansing

So much filth that sits on our grounds
So much slander that parades our sound
Oh the burden but it’sour own fault
For when temptation chases we get caught
Parading these streets with no care
When the Lord is watching us with a stare
We all lack the heart and spirit to cleanse
But when it’s our own suffering we start to binge
Crying for attention with filthy souls
Doing nothing but digging a bigger hole
Where is the love, ha no one knows
It’s in money music cars and clothes
He gave us these things not to replace him
They were given for us to seek and embrace him
Yet we go around stunting but not like our father
We act as if his presence is a bother
Cleanse yourself with his word and his glory
For the work of God will write its own story

This Poems Story

This nation, overall, needs cleansing. We get too caught up in the wrong things and lose site of what we should embrace and pursue. What we are suppose to pursue should have no monetary value, should not be visible but felt and spread. Love, empowerment, faith, and encouragement are things we should chase but too often we couple these things with materialistic things.
