Fake Smiles
I hide behind my smile of a mask
Waiting for them to come and ask
But wearing it is a daunting task
I hide away and pretend to be alright
It’s the hardest laying awake at night
Trying to find reasons to stay in this fight
I’m breaking from what they don’t see
Lost in memories of what we could be
But now that you’re gone it’s only a plea
I feel so empty now that you’re gone
Feeling so lost and withdrawn
Maybe it’s true, maybe i was a pawn
My memories of us start to fade
I just wish you would’ve stayed
Please can someone come to my aid
I just wish it would help me to heal
Because you left me unable to feel
When it was my heart you’d steal
Waiting for them to come and ask
But wearing it is a daunting task
I hide away and pretend to be alright
It’s the hardest laying awake at night
Trying to find reasons to stay in this fight
I’m breaking from what they don’t see
Lost in memories of what we could be
But now that you’re gone it’s only a plea
I feel so empty now that you’re gone
Feeling so lost and withdrawn
Maybe it’s true, maybe i was a pawn
My memories of us start to fade
I just wish you would’ve stayed
Please can someone come to my aid
I just wish it would help me to heal
Because you left me unable to feel
When it was my heart you’d steal
