Family Dynamics

By Shamus E. Malone

Insatiable energy with a pinch of love in tomato gravy
Oddities, but pints of genius in the cabbage stew
Booming Italian voices flow through the halls
Irish melodies belted out on a fresh green pasture

Children laughing with olive skin and auburn hair
Sunday habits with breaking of the bread and sipping of the wine
A patched-up ball is juggled and shot into a stringy net
Working-class parents pass down love with an austere look
