Forever Happiness


I’ve been through a lot of Sundays
But I’ll never forget that One Sunday morning when
I walked up to the preacher
And I said to him
I’ve always done nice things for others
Helping out whenever I can
Just trying to live my life like a perfect gentleman
I come to this place of worship
Once a week
For an hour or two
Because I know it’s the Godly thing to do.
So why do I feel such an emptiness
How can I find my place of happiness.


He said to me
You can walk into the house of God
Shake a few hands
Sing a few songs
Read a verse or two
Say Amen until your face turns blue
Do a good deed when somebody is in need
Whether it’s giving money to the poor
Or driving somebody to the store
I’m afraid it won’t be enough
To get you that one way flight to heaven

But if you open the door to your heart
And let the Lord come in
So he can clean up all of your sin
You will have in your possession
The key to your new home for eternity
And when that lock on those big wide gates
Comes crashing down
There will be no more reasons for you to frown
Because God has blessed you
With a new life of
Forever happiness

I fell to my knees
And said Lord please
Come into my life today
I need you to show me the way
And I’m sorry it took me so long
To admit I have done wrong
But now I know that without you I can’t be
The man I need to be
So please fill my emptiness with your Holiness
Because I can’t go on living like this
I got up off my knees
And the preacher said to me

Now you have in your possession
The key to your new home for eternity
And when that lock on those big wide gates
Comes crashing down
There will be no more reasons for you to frown
Because God has blessed you
With a new life of forever happiness

So if something evil has gotten a hold of you
And it just won’t let go
No matter what you do
It begins to dig deeper and deeper into your soul
It’s built a nest inside of you
So it can hatch a plan
To attack your spirit man.
The time is now
To open the door to your heart and
Let the Lord come in
So he can clean up all of your sin

And then you will have in your possession
The key to your new home for eternity
