Forgiveness

The place she thought was always home
Was actually the blackest dome
Where nightmares mirrored off the wall
And darkness seemed to roam and roam

But where she stood the heavens call
Yet where he yelled the angels fall
The demons lived inside of he
And in the hall with every brawl

She knew the answer was to flee

With every suitcase felt so free
The road she faces long ahead
Will hopefully lead her to finally see
With him she was always closer to dead

Her mother's voice, long been dead
Made its way to the back of her head
"Although you may be filled with dread,
Find the light for which you'll be led"

This Poems Story

My name is Yanerys Melendez and I am a Dominican American residing in Cambridge, MA. My junior year of high school, I was in a creative writing class that forced me to dig deep inside of myself in order to create an honest and raw piece of writing. This poem was created from the memories of a loved one. I want to thank her, for from her pain, I was able to create something beautiful, and I want to thank Mr. Jordan for helping me transform an awful past into a piece of art. I hope you enjoyed the poem.
