Gratitude
Grateful
As my battle for my eternity begins
I see my mother's calm loving eyes and I know it is not lost
As I take hold of my mother's hand as she leads my down my long dark path
As I go along she gradually leaves or I just gradually stop listening
The barriers that once protected me are removed because I thought I didn't need them
But in reality they were the only things keeping me some losing my way
I know I have been hit by life but I don’t know were
So I tell myself I haven’t as I keep drifting off the path
I may have no strength left in my body as life slowly tears me to pieces
My will and my mental strength is the only thing that keeps me going
I fight this battle for years and years with what seems a relentless attacker
Not knowing to ask for help as stubborn as I am
I struggle to find the real reason to fight
I lose my way to far off the path to have hope of returning as life ambushes me
They have finally caught me without a purpose or will to fight
As life’s footsteps die away I have lost
Life has successfully taken my time
Because instead of looking for a reason to fight I blamed life
I used my time without my real prize as I did what I thought would make me happy
I fought life instead of letting it bring me happiness
The reason to fight was to be happy
And this is how I will end with an ocean of regret
As I stare at the ceiling in my deathbed
As my last words slip out of my throat to the world
I wish I was grateful for what I had
As my battle for my eternity begins
I see my mother's calm loving eyes and I know it is not lost
As I take hold of my mother's hand as she leads my down my long dark path
As I go along she gradually leaves or I just gradually stop listening
The barriers that once protected me are removed because I thought I didn't need them
But in reality they were the only things keeping me some losing my way
I know I have been hit by life but I don’t know were

This Poems Story
This was inspired by the people around me who always wish that they could've done more with the lives before they died.
