Her Story

She tells me her story, and I listen quietly.
I've nowhere to go, I'm not in a hurry.
Her tear stained face up against my shoulder.
His gaze on her has become colder and colder.
If only he understood all of the pain he was causing.
All of the sleepless nights because she was frightened,
his control over you has become more heightened.
All of the pain and scars,
not just on the outside but in your heart.
You need to leave him and make a fresh start.
Her poor soul, all he was to her was just a black hole.

He was a caring and bright person,
how fast all those sweet words turned to cursing.
He spoiled her, made her feel like a queen,
but behind closed doors all she heard was his scream.

She shows me her bruises and tries to cover up how he abuses.
Every cruel word and every hit,
her face is covered in all of the venom he spits.

Don't be afraid. I'm here with you now.
