Human

You think the sun rises in my eyes
That I will live forever and you won't have to say good-bye
You think I have magic that can heal all wounds
That every fear is faced better when I am beside you
But I'm only human, and sometimes it feels as if I'm half a world away
Because sometimes I'm a coward and not at all brave
I'm not as tough as I pretend to be
When my knees scrape asphalt I do bleed
My voice does break when I cry
Because sometimes things derail in my life
When my facade is stripped I wear a sign that says, "handle with care"
Because as a result I stand stuck between weak and bare
My faults and flaws on show
There are no barriers and I am exposed
I'm only human, and I hope you understand
I'm fragile and I hurt, I hope you fully comprehend
I have broken dreams
Sometimes I do come loose at the seams
When my heart breaks it shakes my core
Because sometimes it's hard to avoid drowning in a downpour
I'm only human I shed tears and I bleed
Hopefully you stomach this because
This is what being human
Means
