I don\'t love you
You know what they say, baby,
If you get knocked down
it's where you oughta stay.
At first I thought you were changing
but now I know I just stopped trying,
and god, I wish I could care
like I used to- I wish I could
flinch at the punches you take and
clean out the scrapes on your knees,
but I just don't love you like I did yesterday.
I'm thinking about all the time you owe
me, about how I could gather my gloves and get out
while I still can - but you turn to me, as I eye the door,
and you spit out "have the guts to say it,"
So I do.
I don't love you like I loved you yesterday.
If you get knocked down
it's where you oughta stay.
At first I thought you were changing
but now I know I just stopped trying,
and god, I wish I could care
like I used to- I wish I could
flinch at the punches you take and
clean out the scrapes on your knees,
but I just don't love you like I did yesterday.
I'm thinking about all the time you owe
me, about how I could gather my gloves and get out
while I still can - but you turn to me, as I eye the door,
and you spit out "have the guts to say it,"
So I do.
I don't love you like I loved you yesterday.
