I forgot Me Loving You

“I Forgot Me Loving You”

I gave you all my everything,
my laughter, love, my light, my spring.
I dimmed my voice to keep you calm,
and held your storms inside my palm.

I lost my friends, I lost my spark,
kept shrinking smaller in the dark.
I traded joy for keeping peace,
and called my own destruction “sweet.”

You took my heart like it was free,
you never once looked back at me.
You fed on all I tried to give,
while I forgot how I should live.

You called it love — I called it pain.
You left me standing in the rain.
You held my body, not my soul,
and never cared to make me whole.

But now I see what I became,
a woman burning down in shame.
A girl who begged for scraps of care,
while you just breathed my thinning air.

But I’m not done, I’m rising slow,
from all the hurt you’ll never know.
My voice is back, my fire too —
the parts I lost are breaking through.

So hear me now, the truth is clear:
I loved you hard for far too long, my dear.
But loving you meant losing me,
and that’s a price I won’t repeat.

I’m sad, I’m angry, I’m finally free —
I’m walking back to finding me.
