If You Stay

If you stay,
Could we go back to the way we were,
Like when we first started out?

With your lips against mine
And our fingers intertwined,
Your passion for what we could be,
Piercing through your eyes.

You know, like old times?

If you stay, would you stand by my side
Until the day I died?
As I walked down the aisle,
Would you rejoice in rapture,
Or try to hide your remorse?
Would our union last forever,
Or would it steer another course?

Would you mean it when you said "I do"?
Would you mean it when you said "I love you"?

If you stay, would you change your mind and walk away?
Would you walk back out
And want nothing more to do with me?
Would you slam the door behind you and never look back?
Would you erase me from your memory?
Would you ever come back?

If you ever did come back,
Would you really stay this this time?
Or as quickly as I said "Hello"
Would I be saying my goodbyes?
