Kintsugi

I hail from the slum with the aim of seeking greener asylum
My dreams are Elephant,
But limited by my environment
Traveling by the air of my thought to the past,
A past filled with turbulence, fright

My silence speak volume
Experience has blurred my vision
Fear constantly throwing me into confusion.
when shall I see my home
When shall I unite with my families as whole?

The planet is spitting in my face
No way out of this puzzle called life
Going back and forth to achieve five and six…
Yet! Seven keeps 8ting me!
Now the hunger for home stings like venom
I want to go home
I want to be home soon…

  1. Aka Yuki

I like the theme explored here, and I can relate. Why was Kintsugi your choice for the title?

  2. Abdullahi Sulton

The character here is internally broken like the ceramic and needs to be mended (giving hope). A broken ceramic has no use nor value but as soon as it’s fixed, it actively comes back to life. The gold use to bind the ceramic is the hope given to it, more like a second chance. To better convey my message at one glance, I choose the Kintsugi as it better explains the poem in a single word.
