Let Sri Lanka be free
From the grip of terror,
May everyone see
The past error.
Let Sri Lanka be free
Of landmines of doubt,
Not to helplessly flee,
Whenever they erupt.
Let Sri Lanka be free
From mind-set of divisions,
May everyone be free
To live in confidence.
Let not anyone disappear,
Again, hereafter,
May everyone be happier,
With true laughter.
Let Sri Lanka shine
In the bright sunlight,
In the Indian Ocean,
As the pearl- pure white.

This Poems Story
Sri Lanka is epithetized as 'the pearl of the Indian Ocean'. However, its reputation was marred in the recent past due to the conflicts based on ethnicity. Having ended a three-decade long civil war,now, Sri Lanka is trying to correct past mistakes, and is looking forward towards a bright future.
