Limbo

If I take one step forward I will fall in love

If I take one step back I'll detach

So I just stand here in limbo

If I step just one foot forward I will be obsessed, consumed, free falling. I'll want it all, the good, the bad, the passion, the secrets,  I'll feel it all so deeply it will become a part of me. Just one tiny step is all it will take to unravel me.

If I step just one foot back I'll be sad, I may even cry, I'll ratationalize all the reasons for hours on end that this was for the best. I'll turn the key and lock my heart. I'll remember but I'll never feel the full force of fear and pain that comes with loving.

So I stand in limbo terrified to step forward and face the fear. The fear of finding love and losing it. But I can't step back either because the fear of never knowing if my heart was right when it screamed "this one" keeps me in place.  So I'll just stand here in limbo and wait for the day I step forward or back.
