My Super Dad (version 2)
My Super Dad
I was in the fifth grade
Sitting in the back row
Passing notes to all my friends
When My teacher said
I want everybody to write a story
About your favorite super hero
So I got to thinking
I went through page after page
And then it finally hit me
I felt so stupid
For not thinking of you
A whole lot sooner
Because my favorite super hero
Is the man who always takes the time
To listen to what’s on my mind
While doing his job making a living
To pay for all the things I needed
He always protects me
He always makes me feel safe
He can always put a smile on my face
He always takes the time to say
I love you
My favorite super hero
Is my Super Dad
But some people might say
That he doesn’t qualify
Because he never fought crime
He never walked through fire
Or balanced on a high wire
But a super hero
Can come in any shape any size
He can be big and tall
Or small and short
All he’s got to do is be there for you
And that’s why my favorite super hero
Became my Super Dad
He always took the time
To listen to what was on my mind
While doing his job making a living
To pay for all the things I needed
He was always my protector
He always made me feel safe
He could always put a smile on my face
He’s my favorite super hero
He was my Super Dad
Now I’ve got a son of my own
And yesterday he said to me
I always thought that a super hero
Had to fly so high
So high that he disappears into the sky
Shoot down giant mutant flies
With his explosive laser eyes
And he had to know the trick
Of how to knock down a wall with a single kick
But now I know I’ve got something
Something more than an ordinary super hero
I’ve got me a super dad
You always take the time
To listen to what’s on my mind
While doing your job making a living
To pay for all the things I needed
You always protect me
You always make feel safe
You can always put a smile on my face
And even when you’re in hurry
You always take the time to say I love you
And that’s why you are and will always be
