On my count
When I count the stars, I look for you,
Because in my heart I feel you can see me too.
1, 2, 3, I begin to count,
My eyes fixed and focused, scanning for a sign so profound.
4, 5, 6, the night sky’s embrace,
Each star a memory, a familiar face.
In the black void each glimmering light
I search for your presence, you spirit aflight
7, 8, 9, the constellations weave,
Stories of love, of loss, of what I believe.
Its not what others expect or percieve
Knowing our bond will never cease.
10, 11, 12, the stars align,
A celestial promise, you are forever mine.
Though you’re beyond what eyes can see,
In every star, you live with me.
Because in my heart I feel you can see me too.
1, 2, 3, I begin to count,
My eyes fixed and focused, scanning for a sign so profound.
4, 5, 6, the night sky’s embrace,
Each star a memory, a familiar face.
In the black void each glimmering light
I search for your presence, you spirit aflight
7, 8, 9, the constellations weave,
Stories of love, of loss, of what I believe.
Its not what others expect or percieve
Knowing our bond will never cease.
10, 11, 12, the stars align,
A celestial promise, you are forever mine.
Though you’re beyond what eyes can see,
In every star, you live with me.

As the majority of my poetry, this is a dedication for my late wife. This poem was made the night I became very close to being a statistic. I was sad, deeply bothered by the absence of my wife.
