Ones Who Always Seems To Disappear

Grew up with you
Couldn't imagine not having you

One of the few people who could actually get a smile
Did it so many times
Even when you had to walk a mile

Took me through the stars
Across the water
Until we touched land

One of the few people always in my heart
Swam in an ocean-deep swamp,
Full of broken parts

They might have been mine yes that is true
It doesn't matter as long as I have you

Cried when you moved away
Still miss seeing you every day

I'm scared
I'm going to forget
Everything about you

Your smile, your laugh
And most importantly
Your hugs

Miss the way we would cuddle up
Hot cocoa in hand
Lights down low

I'll never admit it
Because once I do
You'll disappear
Not wanting to show

Like marshmallows in hot cocoa
That never seems to stick around
For too long.

And then it'll be me
Swimming in the ocean deep swamp
filled with broken parts.

Wondering
How they were broken in the first place.
