Reality

Reality--a will-o'-the wisp
Elusive as quicksilver
As we see through different eyes
A oneness perceived uniquely.

Green is kelly or emerald;
Fern or garden; forest,
Verdant or spring and,
To some, not green but blue.

Word is a whisper or a shout;
Praise or sarcasm; taunt,
Tirade or tout and,
To some, not heard at all.

Touch is a tap or caress;
Rub or jab; grasp,
Shove or slap and,
To some, not even felt.

And so, through all our senses,
Our reach for reality falls short.
That which is cannot be agreed upon
By mortals from whom reality escapes.
