Reborn

In prior times past it was my naive belief that there was no obstacle
In which the raw power of true love could not fix.
However, presently I ponder upon whether or not
That may just be a clever trick of the mind.
An illusion in which our hearts so desperately wish to believe.
And now the harrowing clarity that you are truly gone
Has left behind an irrevocable sense of loss and loneliness.
The aftermath of a broken love's empty finale.
It was my searingly honest belief that without your presence
I simply could not continue to go on.
However, perhaps despite the preconcieved notion
Two souls are not always meant to mix.
Was it the essence of your love that powered my life-force,
That kept me tethered to this world, like a sea-bound anchor?
No! I say. I could not continue to go on with the morbid belief
That my existance was so reliant on that of another.
Therefore, despite the dark and lonely place
I seemed to have found myself intrapt.
I will be reborn from the dusty ashes with a renewed sense of purpose
That only a true conception of self-worth can replenish.
Because the power of my happiness will,
From this moment on, and only, be my own.
And in love's dull absence, Perseverance will continue on.
Powered by the strength of my own soul,
Each day I will conquer, until my final goodbye.
