Screenshots

Sadly I don’t have a picture of you so I take a screenshot,
We could be right across from each other but we’re stuck in the same spot.
The only time we approach each other is through the screen on our phones.
We stare at each other longingly,
We wish to talk alone.

Every picture that has you in it makes you look so surrounded,
“Please walk over to me”, I whisper, but we both stay grounded.
I won’t even be looking at you and everyone else in the photo becomes a blur,
I can replace them with me in the photo so it’s an image of what we once were.

Whenever you see my face in a picture or on your phone,
Do you ever feel like I’m within your veins or in the marrow of your bones?
Do you gasp when across the screen I catch your eyes?
And blush then say I’m the one you despise?

To look at you I make an excuse to compare my looks to your face,
My finger on the screen,
Your face I trace.

When I look into your eyes I wonder what you ponder.
Do you ever overthink your expression?
You either look content or somber.

I noticed in your pictures that you never smile,
Maybe you don’t like it,
But hiding your glow is futile.

It’s much easier to take a screenshot than memorize,
There’s no peace when I look at you, you fracture me, you’re the reason of this whole demise.

This Poems Story

My interactions between me and this person degraded and now the only time we see each other is from the distance or through a picture.
