The Raven & The Dove
The Raven is flying all alone,
The sky is dark with grayish tones,
Lost in thought it hears the cries of groans and moans.
This Raven sees the Dove falling to the ground.
Thud!
The Raven falters at the deadly sound,
So it flies to hide away to a nearby mound.
The Dove cries and cries for help!
This was the most desperate the Dove ever felt.
Through its tears it sees the Raven in the distance,
And cries once more in desperate need of assistance.
Reluctantly the Raven flies down,
And noticed the Dove’s feathers are turning brown.
“I’ll clean you up and clothe you nicely”.
The Dove can sleep because the Raven’s feathers look so nightly.
When the Raven carries the Dove on its back to rest,
The Dove feels comfortable enough to make a nest.
The Raven allows the Dove to do so,
Because it is so attached it can’t say no.
“I remember when I was your age,
I wish I could go back to turn the page”.
The Raven’s eyes are always so dark,
Destroyed innocence made it lose its spark.
“I lie and lie with a bubbly personality,
So much that I can control and distort this reality.
When I look at you my sweet Dove I see myself from the past,
Why does time have to go by so fast?”.
The Dove can’t help but adoringly stare and listen,
Although it sees the craze in its friends eyes so it starts to stiffen.
The Dove then realizes that the Raven has trapped it in its feathery prison.
“Don’t let this world let you become tainted,
With this black paint in which I’m painted”.
The Dove wondered how the Raven and itself looked alike.
Although the Dove loved the Raven,
To become it the Dove would truly dislike.
Yet sadly the Dove could see itself in the Raven,
And fell weak to the Raven as it was like a haven.
“Promise us to love one another,
Because we are a perfect mirror of each other”.
