Summer

We sang like drunken fools
Dancing out of rhythm
Having the time of our lives
the fire blazed hot as the sun

The grass was never greener
The flowers never smelled as sweet
With the summer in full swing
We swam
We laughed
We played like children

As quickly as it began, it ended
Leaving behind bittersweet memories
Of buzzing bees
Rushing water
And smiling faces
