Sun and Moon
The sun above lights up the sky;yet when it falls evening is nigh.
The moon rises to take its place,
a night watchman--a reflective face.
For darkness is not fully dark,
the moon too leaves its mark.
As the sun rises the next morn,
the moon returns to rest--tired and worn.
Each day, we witness this exchange
yet, by whom was it arranged?
Why does one leave--the other come,
only to do it again when day is done?
For the earth must rest--night must fall;
otherwise worn-out would be all.
The sun and moon help us track our day,
so that we also may say,
"Day is done. Let us rest,
for the sun has descended in the west."
Watch the moon rise this night,
reminding us of the sun's light.
