The Craft Behind Heartbreak

You still hold the key that unlocks
The door to the secret temple
Where my heart lies on its back
Rolled in bandages like a mummy
And candles are lit on top of the tomb.

A passage tunnel narrow as a straw
You fit right in and thread your way in
Like a needle and stitch the holes in my heart.
You talk to the walls that shield the cold out
And the roof that keeps the storms out
Ironic cause you stormed out with the rain.

I wrote you a letter on stone slabs
And hid it in the carnivorous caves.
I painted your face on rock beds
Every brush, stroke a tear
Flooding the streams and rivers
In between unshakable mountains.

A beast that feeds on heartbreaks
With canines sharp as blades
Tearing through the red skies like jaws of life
As its cries resonate with the village whispers.
