The desperate born from death
Why did you have to go and make such a mess? You’ve stained my love’s poor white dress!
All around the people gawk and whisper your name,
They speak of you as if in vain.
I admit our love was profuse,
But what you did has no excuse!
I see her there, she remains staring,
I felt the very weight of your hands tearing.
Death! Death! They call out why,
Tell us now oh don’t be wry.
A cherished moment now stained red,
You promised I’d get to see her in bed.
But I was a fool I didn’t ask which one,
Now my life's dark, what's left me is my sun.
I know it's your job you had no option,
I just wish I could’ve paid for a better coffin.

The poem is about a man who is calling out to death and pleading for an answer as to why death took his wife so soon. It was inspired from a story a friend told me of her uncle and how he didn’t leave his house for weeks after losing his newlywed wife.
