The Determination in Us

What is that thing called determination?
Is it something more than a simple goal?
Does some strange spiritual sensation
Silently, secretly surround the soul?

Does it grip people like a roaring flame
And inspire them to do the best they can?
It impels us to stand and take our aim,
Forcing folks to finish what they began.

Is it a shining light in the distance?
A scintillating star for some to see
And avoid the path of least resistance--
Dream, drive, and definitive destiny.

Determination is all of these things;
In short: it is the wind beneath our wings.
