The Gift of Time

Look closely as time passes you by.

A moment to hold,

another chance another try.

Time solely steals; makes the seasons cold.

We see this as our enemy,

but what about the gifts it holds?

The laughter around a winter chimney.

The time spent with cocoa sheltered from the cold.

We fear what it takes,

and yet, don’t thank what it gives.

When it takes a loved one in its wake;

memories it gives pleading we’ll forgive.

No, an enemy it is not;

a blessing we forgot.

When time steals

think of the joy of moments blessed.

Tears come, yet only time heals.

Pain will be released;

smile at the memories.

Strength will abound,

rise again like the Valkyries.

Like a rose, thorns surround

but beauty is there, it abounds.

Evil it may seem,

yet, it truly blooms beautifully from the ground.

Take this and hold it dear

for the gift of time in memories is made clear.
