The Iron Lady

[Inspired by the Film, "The Iron Lady" based on the life of Margaret Thatcher]

She clings to the past,
even as her memory of its existence
begins/is fading/failing.
She rejects her present state,
her weakened being,
the unrecognizable effigy,
of her powerless self.
She has become everything she wasn't,
everything she fought not to be.
So she clings to a past
that fades into recent history,
with each aging day.
