The Lights Are On

Alone in a crowded mind,
the lights are on and they are home.
A guest in my own existence;
unwelcome and nearly gone.

[They've] taken over, [I'm] free to own.
The lights are on but power isn't mine.
In control of nothing but Illusion,
the cruel irony of a living pun.

Fighting my thoughts as they fight me,
the lights go dim as I lose resolve.
Stuck in repeat without pause;
Fading my being, exhausting my soul.
