The Sweet Mundane
O, tender words,
That once you whispered,
Could you now repeat
That sweet refrain;
From your mouth
To my ears, have you awoken,
My heart to love
The simpler things.
Adventures thrill
And heighten time,
But to feel each moment,
Knowing you are mine-
To live the mundane
And still find it sweet,
Like a gentle smile
And a calming wave-
Your love is steady
And that much more brave,
To weather the uncertainties
And stay ever true,
Not to depart
Once the excitement is through.
Faithfulness, promised,
And promises, kept.
My love, I give;
Your love, I accept.
That once you whispered,
Could you now repeat
That sweet refrain;
From your mouth
To my ears, have you awoken,
My heart to love
The simpler things.
Adventures thrill
And heighten time,
But to feel each moment,
Knowing you are mine-
To live the mundane
And still find it sweet,
Like a gentle smile
And a calming wave-
Your love is steady
And that much more brave,
To weather the uncertainties
And stay ever true,
Not to depart
Once the excitement is through.
Faithfulness, promised,
And promises, kept.
My love, I give;
Your love, I accept.
