The Sweetest Substitute

Dreaming? Dying? Fatally drowning in warmth,
Misty haven wavers enveloped by doze.
Dusky desert cold sun barely touches with light,
And after one instantaneous flash wintry whiteness returns to the night...
...I say "it's night", but you answer "it's day" looking straight with mysterious smile,
While we are circled by rounds
Of the powdery-pink clouds...
It seems to be my sweetest substitute
And started as a cure for solitude.
Random remembrance brings sudden awareness of truth
Showing how wrong pass is easier to find than to lose.
Sparkling, laughing room full of women and men,
I watch them two by two dancing, almost completely ignoring me, when
Leaving indifferent shadows you step towards me with mysterious smile
To pass from your hand into mine, glass of ruby-red wine...
Now it is more than a simple substitute,
Now it is more than a cure for solitude...

Hi! I really enjoyed your poetry. I think poems with beautiful visuals or illustrations are doing really well online these days and often reach a much wider audience. Even with a small investment, adding artwork to your poems can make them more engaging and shareable. I'm a commission-based artist, and I've been creating custom artwork for about 3 years. I'd love to help bring your poems to life with visuals if you're ever interested. You can reach me anytime via em@il: contact.lilaclines@gm@il.com Ig: _lilac_lines_ I'd be happy to chat!
