The Top Of Washburn Hill
On the top of Washburn Hill, where the wind always blew wildest in early spring,
That's where my first memories of us will always be.
Not when I met you.
Not when you asked me.
Not when the preacher tied the knot.
But on the top of Washburn Hill, where we looked down on our first home, there, my first memories will always be.
Not when our first child was born.
Not when our hearts broke for loss.
Not when we buried a part of us together,
At the top of Washburn Hill, where my first memories will always be.
Not when our crops were destroyed by freeze.
Not when the Good Lord kept us from disease.
Not when He gave us another chance at our dream, and I told you
At the top of Washburn Hill, where my first memories will always be.
Not when you danced with me under the stars.
Not when our little one grew fast and wild.
Not when our house burned to ashes as we watched
At the top of Washburn Hill, where my first memories will always be.
Where the wind always blew wildest in early spring,
All through your hair and the sky in your eyes,
As we laughed at the days to come,
You told me you loved me,
On the top of Washburn Hill, where my first memories will always be.
