The woman nobody loved
From as early as I could remember I have been ignored.
At first I thought it was because mum and dad were busy and when my other sisters came along ...it should have been because
I was the middle child of a family of 5 girls.
When my parents divorced I thought, ' things are tough for everyone nobody really has time for anyone '.
In senior high, ' I am neither the smartest nor prettiest of all of us..I am not particularly good at anything, why would anyone pay me any mind?'
After highschool, unlike my two older sisters I didn't get a scholarship to some prestigious university, community college was all I could manage and when I told my mum, without looking at me she said, " I am not surprised... just make sure you don't fail".
At graduation, my dad was the only that showed up just to tell me that he would be leaving the country with his new family. Everyone else had more important things to attend to.
When I landed my first job and I tried to inform everyone over a family call, they all said, "now you can finally live on your own".
Jack a coworker I had known for two years, proposed to me and that meant the world. For the first time I was someone's choice and he promised to love me always.
All my siblings were surprised and mum said nothing.
We got married.
7 years later
I am a mother of two
And Jack seems to have forgotten the words that made me say I do.
Spending late nights with his friends.
Staring at me coldly whenever I'd try to talk like we used to.
Always blaming me for things I don't even know and reminding me of my flaws.
On the days I manage to take walks alone ...I wonder what my life would look like if I was ever loved.
