Theory Of Existence

THE THEORY OF EXISTENCE
by Jennifer M. Owens

We started as air—
no body, no bone,
just drifting energy
floating through space,
weightless, timeless,
held only by gravity’s whisper
and the static hum of creation.

Then fire struck—
a spark, a collision,
energy hitting energy
until the universe lit up.
The Big Bang roared,
and nothing became something,
darkness cracked open
and life took its first breath.

Water followed.
A flood of emotion,
a cleansing wave
like Noah’s ancient warning.
It softened what was hard,
taught us to feel,
to flow,
to carry both pain and healing
in the same current.

Earth arrived next—
solid, grounding,
giving us weight,
form,
blood,
bones.
We dropped into gravity,
built homes, cities, stories,
and called it living.
We rooted ourselves
in the physical world
and named it reality.

But fire returns.
Not to create—
to transform.
To burn away what’s broken,
to clear the path,
to end what cannot continue.
It is passion, destruction,
rebirth wrapped in flame,
the heat that forces change
whether we’re ready or not.

And then we rise again.
Back to air.
Back to energy.
Back to the place
where weight dissolves
and spirit remembers itself.
We return to the stars,
to God as we understand Him,
to the silence before creation,
to the breath before the spark.

We are the cycle.
Water, Earth, Fire, Air—
again and again,
a cosmic loop
older than memory,
bigger than time.

We come through it,
we live it,
we leave it,
and maybe—
we come back.

This Poems Story

I want to tell you where this poem came from, because it didn’t start as poetry. It started as a question I’ve carried my whole life: “What if existence is bigger than what we’re taught?” Not religion. Not science. Not astrology. But something that connects all of them — and connects us. One day, I was sitting with my own thoughts, trying to make sense of everything, I’ve lived through… the pain, the growth, the moments that broke me, and the moments that rebuilt me. And I realized something: Every stage of my life felt like an element. There were times I was floating — lost, weightless — like air. Times I was drowning in emotion — like water. Times I was grounded, heavy, solid — like earth. And times everything burned down so I could start again — like fire. And then it hit me: What if that’s not just life… what if that’s existence itself? What if we don’t just live through the elements — what if we are the elements? What if we began as energy in space, fell into bodies on earth, learned emotion through water, were transformed by fire, and eventually rise back into air again? Not as a metaphor — but as a cosmic cycle we’ve been repeating since the beginning of time. That idea became a theory. That theory became a story. And that story became this poem. This poem is my way of saying: We are more than our bodies. We are more than our pain. We are part of something ancient, powerful, and eternal. So when you hear this poem, don’t just listen to the words. Listen for the parts of yourself inside it — the parts that have floated, drowned, burned, and risen again. Because this isn’t just my theory of existence. It’s ours. I also wrote a book on this and been accepted to publish, I yet have to do that I don\'t have the money to get it published just yet but I know in the long future it will be in stores online and even over seas selling.
