This Made Up Day
This day to so many is a one of couples and lovers
So why is there not a day for singles and bachelors
If the rest of the population didn't feel so alone today
Do you think Valentine's from red would turn grey?
If we are either or when this day comes does it matter
Bunches of roses that soon die just for one to flatter?
In the days after how much do we take from this day
Feelings of fulfillment? Or insecurity determined to stay?
Think not of this day only as the special one
Rather make the rest count as when you'd first begun
So why is there not a day for singles and bachelors
If the rest of the population didn't feel so alone today
Do you think Valentine's from red would turn grey?
If we are either or when this day comes does it matter
Bunches of roses that soon die just for one to flatter?
In the days after how much do we take from this day
Feelings of fulfillment? Or insecurity determined to stay?
Think not of this day only as the special one
Rather make the rest count as when you'd first begun
