Victim Of Words

I've been a victim - a victim of disgraceful words
Such as the N word!
At last - I'm free - in their hateful cage -
like captive birds
A victim of words - yes - spoken by silver tongues
Words more dangerous than wild guns
Words that are still hurting - our daughters and sons
Under the thousand suns
Words sweet as a subtle jab
Words wrapped in a velvet scab
My gift of death - a blanket of smallpox
A bottle of brandy - given to me by the first bandit
In a hurry - they burry my body in a cedar box
Smiled, then handed me the book of Jesus
inserted division between us
Told us to kneel and pray - while they robbed us
It was victory and power for their greed
In our mind - was planted the devil's seed
We asked for liberation -
they say the chain is what you need
Freedom fighters heart left to bleed
Liberty in need - victim of words - yes indeed
