When All Is Said And Done…

The gloves are off and by the way
you want reality?
then pull yourself together cause
you’ll hear it straight from me.

You know I keep it black & white
no need to change up now,
this isn’t up for debate so
you’ll have to deal somehow.

I live in la la land because
it’s happier up there,
and regardless, nothing goes
that way I keep it fair.

To live life off the cuff out of necessity is rough,
but when you know you’re different
it’s never quite enough.

You don’t have the luxury of
trying to do your best,
you ad lib every day in hopes
of passing every test.

Everything that was decent in
my character I knew,
was honestly just who I was
at least that part was true.

But I am human, not afraid
of showing any cracks,
the only constant I count on
good or bad. Those are facts.

That doesn’t make you squeaky clean
it means you keep it real,
no changin lanes, you stay the course
no matter how they feel.

What’s crazy to some comes across
attractive to the rest,
that means a 50/50 chance
I’m always at my best.

So never sure of anything
I chose to bet on me,
it’s all I had and knew damn well
was all I’d ever be.

People like confidence to show
and when you’re not afraid,
they pay little attention to
the messes that you’ve made.

So wether or not you approve
of who I really am?
I have to keep it 100
I just don’t give a damn.

You think that’s narcissistic I
would have to disagree,
you trying to break character
comes off selfish to me.

When you’ve put in as many years
and walked my walk alone,
then you might have the right to judge
and voice what you condone.

But until then I’ll stand my ground
if that ends up to be,
all by myself at least I know
that I can count on me.
