When The World Is Dim

“When the World Went Dim”

I used to trust the morning light,
how it held my world in colors bright,
but shadows crept in slow and thin,
and that’s the day the dark moved in.

One eye faded like a dying flame,
a window fogged I couldn’t name,
I begged the blur to let me see,
but sight slipped out of reach from me.

Depth unraveled, step by step,
curbs became a quiet threat,
faces turned to shapes and lines,
and nothing matched the old designs.

I learned to walk with cautious grace,
to feel the world instead of chase,
to listen harder just to cope,
to trade my vision in for hope.

People say you “learn to live,”
as if loss is something light to give,
but grief sits heavy in the chest,
a silent ache that never rests.

I lost more than the eye that cried,
I lost the ease I held with pride,
the simple trust in what I’d see,
the world that once made sense to me.

But still I guard the flame that stays,
my one good eye that lights my days,
I move through darkness, slow but strong,
proving every step belongs.

I didn’t lose the heart within,
even when the world went dim.
I walk through shadows, brave and true,
because the dark can’t quiet you.

This Poems Story

In 2022 I lost my sight in my right eye and I\'m slowly losing vision in my other eye. You just don\'t know the fear of loosing sight until it really happens. This is a story about my life in the Dim.
